SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR SUSTAINABILITY AND SOCIAL INTERACTION ANALYSIS IN BUILDING INFORMATION MODELING

University of Toronto

Described herein are systems and methods for building information modeling. An embodiment of the method includes: receiving a BIM; and transforming the BIM to flatten solid-volume geometry for space bounding elements into thin-walled boundaries of the thermal zones by: determining wall volumes from the BIM; collapsing the wall volumes to provide single surface walls; determining wall center surfaces and end points from the single surface walls; aligning, and trimming or extending, the single...

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR ONLINE ANALYSIS OF STAKEHOLDERS

University of Toronto

Described herein are systems and methods for stakeholder analysis, and particularly for infrastructure project stakeholder analysis. An analysis engine models stakeholder data, such as social media comments, in the form of subject-sentiment dyads. A combination of the influence level of the person that generated the sentiment, the subject, and sentiment of the sentiment data provide a numerical model of the social media data as a data-point in the semantic space of the analysis. An...

METHODS FOR ANALYSIS OF SINGLE MOLECULE LOCALIZATION MICROSCOPY TO DEFINE MOLECULAR ARCHITECTURE

University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University

A method of super-resolution microscopy is provided. The method includes mapping three- dimensional location of each single emission event in a plurality of single emission events from a series of optical images of a sample to create a point cloud. The point cloud is filtered or refined. Clusters within the point cloud are identified and characterized allowing for an assessment of molecular architecture.

APPARATUS AND METHODS FOR SPERM SEPARATION

McGill University, University of Toronto

Various embodiments of methods and apparatus for separating sperm, including apparatus having an inlet and an outlet reservoir, and either: i) a radial array of microchannels disposed between the inlet and outlet reservoirs to provide fluid communication therebetween and to direct motile sperm inwardly from the inlet reservoir to the outlet reservoir; or ii) at least one microchannel path disposed between the inlet and outlet reservoirs to provide fluid communication therebetween, the at...

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR SPATIAL INTERACTION FOR VIEWING AND MANIPULATING OFF-SCREEN CONTENT

University of Ontario Institute of Technology

When an information space is larger than the display, it is typical for interfaces to only support interacting with content that is rendered within its viewport. Various embodiments are described herein for several spatial off-screen exploration techniques that make use of the interaction space around the physical display to support interacting with off-screen content. These techniques include one or more of Paper Distortion, Dynamic Distortion, Content-Aware Dynamic Peephole Inset, Spatial...

Detecting and treating dementia

University of British Columbia, Mayo Foundation, THE UNIVERSITY OF MANCHESTER, VIB VZW, UNIVERSITEIT ANTWERPEN

This document relates to methods and materials for detecting mutations that can be linked to dementia. For example, methods and materials for detecting one or more mutations within PGRN nucleic acid are provided. This document also provides methods and materials for detecting the level of progranulin expression. In addition, this document relates to methods and materials for treating mammals having a neurodegenerative disorder (e.g., dementia). For example, methods and materials for...

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR CYBERSECURITY RISK ASSESSMENT OF USERS OF A COMPUTER NETWORK

University of New Brunswick

Systems and methods are provided for determining the security risk associated with one or more users of a computer network. Users are monitored over time to build security related profiles which are employed to assess the risk they impose on the network. The user profiles, which may be computed as online and network user profiles for each user, are processed to classify users according to user groups. A composite risk measure is generated, for a given user, based on a first measure that is...

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR IDENTIFYING EXPERTS ON SOCIAL MEDIA

University of Toronto

A system and method for identifying experts on social media and more specifically to systems and methods for identifying experts, topics and followers in social media networks that may be used to engage or track a wide and relevant audience for message targeting.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PREDICTION OF SELF-SIMILAR SIGNALS

University of Toronto

A system and method for predicting a self-similar signal are provided. The prediction is made by obtaining an observed signal and generating wavelet coefficients of the original time scale each corresponding to multiple intervals of the observed signal. At least one across-scale wavelet coefficient is predicted based on the wavelet coefficients of the original time scale based on across-scale correlation. The signal can be predicted based on the predicted wavelet coefficient.

DATA VISUALIZATION PLATFORM FOR EVENT-BASED BEHAVIOR CLUSTERING

University of Toronto

A platform for processing event traces to generate clusters of journey maps for an interactive user display. The clustering can be implemented using a genetic process. The clustering can be implemented using a distance measures. Other clustering techniques can be used. The platform can use the clustering results to generate interactive dynamic visualizations with interactive selectable portions. The platform can integrate processing mining and journey maps to generate interactive dynamic...
