Project Summary

The purpose of our Cafe Scientifique is to further engage and exchange with the Yarmouth/Tri-County public through conversation with our team of national researchers, local stakeholders, and community leaders on the subject of bereavement and care following the death of a loved one. Participants will have the opportunity to hear about current primary bereavement care research. They will also be introduced to some of the exciting new bereavement support initiatives taking root in their Yarmouth/Tri-County communities. Proposed topics for discussion include: characterizations of the experience of grief (time-limited versus lifelong); grieving differences amongst women, men, and children; helpful and hurtful words and actions when caring for the bereaved; and types of health and social services available to / being developed for bereaved family members in the community. This Cafe would be yet another occasion to further strengthen and spread the important knowledge-to-action work we have partnered on.
