Successful construction projects require an enormous amount of data collected and analyzed in the pre-design phase of the project. Building Information Management (BIM) software are a new set of tools that can be used to generate and manage data for buildings during the project life cycle. BIM software provides improvements to the way architects-contractors and fabricators work. BIM software uses 3D, real-time, dynamic building modeling software to increase productivity in the building design and construction, allowing us to achieve better and more accurate construction projects with minimized financial costs. BIM software also facilitates coordination and cooperation, and it supports the easy maintenance of a building life cycle. Introducing modeling and simulation facilities into BIM software makes this task even better. Although different simulation applications have been developed for BIM, we need to investigate new methods to incorporate all kinds of simulations. We propose to adopt promising theoretical approaches that can be used for a number of modeling and simulation applications. These methods use discrete-event methodologies, which provides a mechanism for resolving generic modeling and simulation problems. BIM software is often associated with industry foundation classes (IFCs), which are the data structures used to represent information used in BIM. IFCs were developed by the International Alliance for Interoperability, and are based on the Standard for the Exchange of Product (STEP). This model data (STEP) is a way to exchange product data information. IFCs are supported in most of the current architecture software and it is recognized as a valuable means of providing interoperability and better integration of the life cycle process of buildings. We will study new features and concerns in BIM community, to improve interoperability between different BIM authoring tools and enhance IFC the model reusability.
