Abstract

A computer-implemented thermal modelling method for powder bed fusion additive manufacturing presented. The method comprises a microscale modelling (i) step, including a single-track simulation of a powder bed (6) with an energy beam (5), wherein a Gaussian heat source (G) and an anisotropic heat conductivity of a build-up material (6) are considered, and wherein heat source parameters are identified (I); and a macroscale modelling (ii) step, using a Gaussian effective heat flux to provide line-type irradiation scans (V), wherein the heat source parameters (H, v) and a heat conductivity coefficient are adapted to a macroscale. Moreover, a related computer program product and an additive manufacturing method are provided.
