The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) release data about grants and awards to the Government of Canada Open Data Portal. COGNIT.CA makes use of that Information.
Through its search engine and interface, COGNIT.CA directs users to the Research Facilities Navigator developed and maintained by the Canada Foundation for Innovation.
COGNIT.CA draws patent data from the European Patent Office’s worldwide Open Patent Service.
Individual institutions, typically through their technology transfer office, manage their own technology licensing opportunities on COGNIT.CA.
Cognit.ca undertakes significant effort to clean, normalize, and link data elements both within and between datasets. These efforts make use of both fully automated processes and processes that include human review. Although care has been taken to minimize errors, given the nature of the underlying data it is possible that some errors remain and/or have been introduced.
